The company that became J&E Hall Ltd was founded in 1785 as an iron works in Dartford. It later became an engineering company that had its main manufacturing site in Hythe Street, Dartford, where the Prospect Place retail park now is. J&E Hall had a sports ground (now closed) for its staff,
with an entrance in Darenth Road in South Dartford. The Princes Park Stadium
(used by Dartford Football Club) was built on this land.
